Happy weekend to you peeps. I hope you had a great week, and a great holiday weekend last weekend. Angela and Flash and I are sitting out on the back porch with our friend Paige Greene, who spent the night with us. It's 7:53 in the a.m., and of course Angela and Paige have already been up for a long time...I woke up hearing words float through the hall...like...healing, Jeremiah, the blood, refuge...and creamer, over well, and fruit salad. When these two get together, I am convinced they have signed a secret pact where they will not use less than 450 words a minute.
We had a great weekend last weekend. We started out by piling in the car and driving to Asheville, NC. We had a great day there on Saturday. The weather was perfect, and Asheville is a great town. A little Mellow Mushroom pizza...a little shopping at a cool toy store...a little bit of chocolate from Kilwins. All was well. And Angela, of course, washed her turtle fudge down with some carrot-apple-celery-beet juice from some store with the word GREEN in the title. She was happy. And according to her, all of her cells were brimming with live enzymes. What Memorial Day weekend is complete without some good live enzymes?
I sang at a church in Asheville on Sunday morning where the pastor from my childhood now serves - Jim Russell. It was great to see Jim, his wife Dale, and most of their kids, who were my kids' ages when I last saw them (in 1986!). Ouch. For those of you who were at Perkinsville Baptist in Boone in 1986, here are the Russells...with my dad (2nd from left), my sister (on the end) and me:
Here are Jim and Dale with their daughter Jamie and her son, their daughter Abby, and son Ryan and his fiancee:
And here is me and my dad.
After the concert and lunch, we headed to Boone for a couple of days. This weekend was the one-year anniversary of our Living Proof in Boone. That was one of my favorite weekends of my life. And this weekend confirmed my suspicion that Boone is the most beautiful and close-to-perfect place to be on the last weekend in May. It was stunning. Perfect weather, great food, and a crazy family to share it with. And by crazy, I mean crazy.
We played with cousins and aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters. And Angela found a way to work in some shoe shopping. Live enzymes AND shoe shopping for my bride. I am the best. husband. ever.
Random fact: Levi tried to work in the word touche into his conversation All weekend. He has no idea what it means. He would just say it randomly here and there. Fun times. Touche.
Another random fact: I watched zero tv while in Boone. I even tried to...I tried to watch the Spurs, but I kept falling asleep. It was nice. Touche.
Have a great weekend. Take a few moments today to recount to the Lord some of the infinite reasons He is worthy of your praise, affection, and surrender. Talk to you soon...

Thank you so much for sharing your weekend. We had a wonderful time at Merrimon Ave. The service was great and I loved watching my girls. To them, your coolness factor is up there with TobyMac, (which of coarse is correct!) We all agreed it was worth the drive to hear the song "Moses" we loved it, and God used it to really speak a message to us. Thanks.
We got so many invitations to return to the church, they really have a wonderful congregation.
ps. LPL Boone was an awesome weekend!
Travis,
It was so good to see you here in Asheville last Sunday. Isn't Mellow Mushroom the greatest? I think Angela got her go-go juice from Green Life.
It was so nice to finally be able to meet Angela! Tell her I will definitely have some hand lotion next time to share with her.
When I got home and looked at the pictures in my camera it was so funny because evidentally my daughter, Abigail, had been taking pictures of you before the whole thing got started...a lot of them. I just kackled when I saw the one of me and my girls with you. The shirts that you and I are wearing are the exact same color! Did you call my house that morning and ask the girls what I was going to wear? LOL
The pic of you and your dad is just precious.
Thank you for playing 'Moses'. I think that is my girls favorite song. You should hear us when we are driving down the road and that song comes on. It's a hoot!
It looks like my sister and I will not be able to come to Atlanta at the end of June afterall for Deeper Still. I have had those tickets for almost a year and have held on to them for dear life just in case my nieces' wedding plans changed. If anyone is interested in these tickets, just email me and let me know. I will so miss going. Last year was such a blast in Nashville. I went solo but it was still awesome! I think I made about twenty-some thousand friends while I was there so I wasn't so alone. I do have our tickets for the Living Proof simulcast in August though. I would much rather be there in person but I am sure I will be Blessed from head to toe anyway. Can't wait.
I am so glad that you had a nice relaxing weekend visiting friends and family. Hope you and your family have a Blessed week ahead!

I always love to read your randomness. You made me smile, after reading and grading lots of "stuff." Now that's something! Thanks.
