I'm All Out Of Love

I just had a great idea! I could name all my posts different titles of 80's songs...

Just kidding.

I have written and re-written and re-written today's post...over and over and over. I can't talk about Idol without sounding mean or jaded or something. So I can't bring myself to post it. Let's just say that I'm confident that David will win...I hope David wins...and the other David is good, too.

And I am glad this season is almost over. I think I'm starting to run out of love for this American pastime. And I just don't have anything else left to say about it, really.

I am in the studio right now, cutting lead vocals for the Christmas record. Anybody feel like Christmas? At my current pace, I should be done just in time to put the kids in bed on Christmas eve. For reals. I sometimes can't believe I am actually a singer, I go so slow. I am barreling through these with all the speed and gusto of a turtle crossing the road. But the good thing is the tracks sound so AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL...and the producer is great company. So I am having a great time. I am excited for this project to be finished. It has been one of the best musical experiences of my life. If I could just sing in tune. : >)

One last cute thing...yesterday at the breakfast table, Lily Kate asked if God was a noun or a verb...

Think I might just agree with you about being "American Idoled Out". The jury is still out as to whether or not I'll jump on the bandwagon next January. At least I have seven months to pray about it, thank you, Jesus.

A noun or a verb! that is priceless! selahV
I'm for David and time off from Idol, too.

I think the 80s song lyrics idea could catch on.

Anyway Travis, I Feel for You and I’m sorry You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling but I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do). Honestly, I find your post a little Cold Hearted. Besides, What’s Love Got to Do With It? Personally, even though Sayesha is gone as Another One Bites the Dust, I still have Endless Love for Idol. I think that as the summer progresses, you’ll find that Idol is a Hard Habit to Break. You must just be caught in The Heat of the Moment.

Sorry to lose Sayesha, but somebody had to go because That’s Just the Way it Is. Granted, right now Sayesha is probably thinking, Don’t You Want Me? and would say to us all, Don’t You Forget About Me. But don’t worry Sayesha, I’m gonna Keep on Lovin’ You. Just keep on doin’ what you do because When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going. You don’t have to worry What Could’ve Been because you’re going to have a great career, You just gotta have Faith.

As for the finale, I Can’t Wait. Say, Say, Say what you want but I think David and David will Shake It Up for One More Night. I hope they Take My Breath Away. Personally, I really like Archeletta but I hope Cook wins because I love Rock and Roll so Let’s Hear it for the Boy! Either way, The Winner Takes it All and after next week we can all say The Search is Over. Seasons Change and we must all get Back to Life. But Simon, Paula, Randy, when next season rolls around, you’ll find I’m Right Here Waiting for You. Strait Up!

Woah, TODD! Impressive!

Hats off to my former roommate, Mr. Todd Benkert...that is ONE KILLER COMMENT. And you did it so quickly...I just posted a few minutes ago, right?

Thanks for that...it makes my 80's heart happy...

Okay, I'm still laughing at Todd's comment!!

As for AI, well I'm still watching. However, I am so OVER the judges right now I could spit!!

Oh, and I love the Lily Kate comment. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. She reminds me of my Sammie when she was young.

Stay strong in the studio. I'm praying for you and that you'll still LOVE Christmas music by the completion of the recording process!

Much love,
~Cheryl

I think Lily Kate is just precious and I am writing that question down right now -- "Is God a noun or a verb?"

He's it -- He's all of it! He is, after all, I AM...and nouns and verbs fit just alike after those two words!! I'll be thinking about it all day.

My favorite Lily Kate moment of late was when I ran into your lovely wife just after I had run into the lovely Beth the night before. I mentioned that I had chatted with Beth at the hotel and Lily Kate's eyes got huge. She jumped up and said, "You saw Beth Moore?? Beth Moore?!? You know...I had lunch with Beth Moore today!"

So cute!

Dori

P.S. Loved Todd's comment and I'll also be singing all of those songs all day! :)

Oh my stinkin' word...that comment from Todd made me laugh out loud!!!! I only wish I could be that quick witted. Anyway...I think the finale is exactly the way the judges wanted it...that kinda upsets me somewhat but whatever...I guess they are doing their job. I am still for David Cook all the way...I love David A. too but just don't think he is ready. For the record...AI has gotten on my nerves this season but I too will be "right here waiting" when it rolls around in Jan.

A noun or a verb? So precious!

I agree with your thoughts on AI. I only half tune in anymore.

Slow or not, we are excited to hear that Christmas CD around here. I know it will become a fav just like all your other work. My girls think Travis Cottrell is their close personal friend. Seriously, my 6 year old just asked her cousin last week in the car, "WHAT? You don't know Travis? Where have you been?" I love it!

I been wondering the same thing about AI too for about 3 seasons... Todd was incredible!! Way to go!

Todd Benkert said...

Glad I could bring a smile your way. Hey, next time we're in the same city, let's get together . . . maybe we could go sing karaoke. :-)

Yep...I'm just wondering if my irritation with this show will change between now and January. I'm just kind of over this season.

And Todd...that was...well a walk down memory lane!! Too funny. :)

So what was the answer to Lily Kate's very deep question? You got to love those. :)

Darlene R. said...

Okay Todd, you rock~~ For sure!!

I loved the 80's music, but I can't even begin to pull all of those titles out of my memory bank. Have three kids might have something to do with that! Just reading that comment took me back to the good ol' days!

Anyway, I understand your unfortunate feelings for the AI thing. It's getting old. That so sad.

Have fun with the whole recording thing!

I want to be Lily Kate when I grow up. LOL!! Noun or a verb, love it!!!
American Idol, for all the hype put out that this was the best group of singers they have ever had,,,, NOT!!!

I am ready for it to be over. I am ready for Summer and cookouts and vacations etc... and I can't wait to hear your Christmas cd!!

I am off to get ready for the day and go shopping at Old Time Pottery. They are having a great sale and I need things to spruce up the patio!
Have a great weekend!

Did you answer noun, verb, adjective, adverb and everything else?

Praying for you, as you sing. I can't wait to get it and think about how much time and effort you all are putting into it.

My friend Angie from Boulder wrote this about LPL CS: http://flibbertigibberish.blogspot.com/2008/05/last-weekend.html

It will make you lol out loud, as Monk says.

Praying for you and your fam,
holly

PS My cousin GAVE us his car last night--God is mighty! Woohoo!

For some reason this season just did not do it for me either(even though I still watched!) I agree though I think Cook will win and should. He has the overall package.

Thanks for Todd and that great comment! It was hilarious!

For reals. Funny one! So, the thing is, I recorded it for the fam and my hubs went to watch it and after 6 minutes, nothing. Yea, we missed the boot and I'm not even sad about it. I mean, where's the excitement in this show anymore? Todd, WOW, good one! Thanks for the past time entertainment since there seems to be NONE ON TV!!! Should we just cancel the cable now or watch every rerun of Throwdown with Bobby Flay?
Noun or verb? Adorable!

I can't wait for your Christmas album (ouch, "album", my age is showing!). I'm sure this time next year I'll still be listening to it just to experience the way you exalt Jesus when you sing. Try not to wait til Christmas Eve to finish, I plan on giving it as gifts to many of my friends and family!

Blessings to your family.

P.S. You GO Lily Kate. He is the WAS and IS and IS TO COME!!!

Todd Benkert said...

If only I got this kind of reaction from my sermons. :-)

On another note, Travis, I can't wait for the Christmas album -- especially since my kids love Christmas and Cottrell.

Blessings,
Todd

And bring those 80s song titles on! Too bad Daniel doesn't know any...

Lily Kate's question reminds me of when my daughter was her age and asked... "Do imaginary people think we're imaginary?"! Not as spiritually deep as Lily Kate's question, but deep nonetheless!
Merry Christmas!

Hey Travis,

My family and I are so sorry the lunch invite didn't work out for the 25th. Maybe another time...

I haven't watched AI for about the last two seasons or so. I just check in here for updates...doesn't sound like I have missed much. I think Paula may have been more entertaining than the contestants. The first few seasons were really good though. Still lovin' Carrie Underwood!

Can't wait for your Christmas CD! I never get tired of Christmas music. Evidentally my daughter Abigail doesn't either. We were driving down the road the other day and I started listening to her sing, she sings non-stop, and she was singing a Christmas song. Take all the time you need to put into the project, I'm sure it will be perfect.

I'm sure you and Todd got along really well as roommates...same sense of humor. Loved the post.

Blessings to you

Just follow my lead on the recording, Cottrell. I left every note in tune when I was in the studio. Just have Brown pull out my vocals and follow along. Really. I don't mind. Just give me a shout-out on the CD jacket.

So how did you answer your little spiritual prodigy? Was it a "don't talk with your mouth full" moment? ;)
AI- I just want them to build up the finale really huge, get them both standing there and drag it out and then say, "The winner is....................................................DAVID!!!!!" That would just be fun...

Todd- loved the comment! Got about 50 songs stuck in my head now...

Travis -
Just got out of the Boise conference today. You must have such a blast being able to sing the way you do -knowing you're using it for the Lord. You are incredibly gifted and it was a joy to watch you.
Wish I could have said "hi" so I wouldn't be just a blog face....

Hi, Travis... You guys were awesome this last weekend (Boise). I had to leave a little bit early on Saturday - right as you all were playing during the prayer-time-break. I forget what the song was, but it was beautiful (of course). What was sooooo amazing was the Boise Saturday Market was going on right outside the arena. The doors were wide open and the music could be CLEARLY heard in the courtyard. I was beaming from ear to ear. I felt like there was a light from Heaven upon me - I couldn't help but look in the eyes of passerbys and wonder... "are you hearing this?!!!" Anyway, I know much prayer went into all of your attendance and I want you to be encouraged. I always look forward to your music. (imagine small type/font now.... it was hard to go back to our 'quiet' music at church today!)

OH! One more question... what CD has the 'Measureless' song on it that you did in Salt Lake '06?

P.S.S. Thanks for singing 'Shackles' - it's my fave! (although I did miss the other gal who solos)

My kids call me "English Major Mother" so when I asked out loud just now if God was a noun or a verb, you should have seen the looks I got...and the answers. LOL. How precious is Lily Kate! God is one great verb, I "am." And oh the nouns! ... Who are these David people---I'm LOST this season. I'll watch the finale. And that Todd guy is hilarious. Can you imagine listening to Travis do karaoke---that would be AWESOME!!!
