Jaime, I was going to say Glory Revealed, too, before I saw yours! I am really digging that lately. I love the subtle bluegrass feel, and the simple scripture lyrics.
*Revolution Song (Gateway Worship) *Pages Album (Shane & Shane) *Leeland *I'm a Christy Nockels fan any day *Brooke Fraser (girl that wrote/sings HOSANNA for Hillsong)
LOVE HERO!!!! Imagine Me and Could've Been Me are two of my very favorites. We love Kirk Franklin...(of course my kids love Revolution so they can whoop, whoop). Also listening to The Altar and the Door, True Beauty, and just got Glory Revealed this week... love it! I downloaded some Hillsong after DS. I can't find "Holy Holy Holy, is the Lord God Almighty" anybody know where to find it? (Maybe somebody we really like should record it????) Also listening to Beyond Measure and Precious Memories (by Alan Jackson). I could keep going but I won't mention that not a day goes by without some _ _ _ _ _ _. Better than Life and My Passion are my favorites today. Praise God for the iPod!
Well, I am listening to TC. Sorry had to say it. Check out my blog from yesterday and you'll see!!
I'm also digging the following:
1)Shekinah Glory Ministry Live--You might have missed this one. Gospel at its best. Check out these two songs: How Deeply I Need You and Yes
2)How You Live by Point of Grace--I really like this new CD. POG goes back to its roots with the tight 4 part harmonies that made me first fall in love with them.
3)The Altar and the Door by Casting Crowns--Oh my! The new CD doesn't disappoint. Great lyrics-great music. Enough said.
4) I Surrender by Dennis Jernigan--This is an older one, but I keep going back to it. Great lyrics/music and Jernigan has such an authentic worship style. I can't get enough of it.
Although I listened to The Lamb Has Overcome in the car today, while making dinner I listened to Casting Crowns new CD, The Altar and The Door. The song, "I Know You're There" makes me want to stop julienning carrots, raise my hands to heaven and sing at the top of my lungs!
Bethany Live's Let the Church Rise cd and Israel Houghton's A Deeper Level, of course. I love full albums. And Kirk Franklin's Hero has got to be his very best ever. Crazy about "Brokenhearted." Get on into Houston, TX! Praying for your healing.
Monk & Neagle are a new favorite. I had the honor of receiving a cd earlier this summer and have loved it.
I echo Abby with Gateway Worship.
Love Israel Houghton's South Africa CD. (drawing a blank on the official name. Could be a result of the amount of cold/sinus medication I'm on.) "Take the Limits Off" does something to me everytime I hear it.
And I always have a Jim Brickman CD going somewhere in my house.
Ok I have to admit I played your CD "Found" in my Bible study this morning. I always play a CD in the morning when the ladies start arriving and today it was yours :) Man, that Travis Cottrell guy can sing!! - hehe
I am also hooked on a CD from a church in B'ham called Awaken as well as Avalon, Casting Crowns, and Chris Tomlin CD's. Boomama has me wanting Monk and Neagle now though so I might check it out soon. Blessings Kim
Monk & Neagle are basically awesome. I just got to go to a concert with them, Bethany Dillon, and Shane & Shane in Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). They all stole my heart.
LOVE Hero....but it's an 'oldie!" Have you heard the new CD that has Kirk's version of "September?" Awesome. Also listening to ... Mandisa. And Kari Jobe. And you're "Found" album, of course!
My birthday present just arrived yesterday...a new ipod!! Never had one before and am beyond excited! So...I'm listening to a little bit of everything getting that baby all set up. Right now I'm definitely on a Nicole C Mullen kick...but her older stuff. Not a big fan of her last two releases, but am STILL lovin' the Talk About It CD! Happy listening everyone! Kelli
Well, I usually throw my favorite songs onto a blank CD instead of just listening to a whole album. But some of my recent faves are Jeremy Camp, Mercy Me, Rebecca St. James, and Carrie Underwood. I really want Casting Crowns new one as I love their song "East to West."
In no particular order, Spur 58, Tomlin, Shane and Shane, Robby Seay, Dave Hunt, Jeff Johnson (this song, Glorious Day! Travis - you have to hear it!), Matthew and Lizi,Deas Vail (check them out!), Bebo,Charlie Hall, Jonah Werner,Paul Baloche, Justin Johnston,Tim Hughes, and TRAVIS!!! There are others, of course, but this is a start......I LOVE music!
At this exact moment, I am listening to a newcomer Josh Bates "Perfect Day". Others this morning have been LifeHouse, Casting Crowns,Phil Wickham, MercyMe, Vicky Beeching, Chad Meadows...
CHRISTMAS MUSICAL! I introduce it next week to the choir. I am also listening to the songs we sing for the month at church. Chris Tomlin, Don Moen, 4-Him, Phillips Craig and Dean, some guy named Travis Cottrell, etc. And I throw in, sorry, 100% Pure Disco CD I picked up at Target! hehe
But what if we ARE listening to one of our TC cds? =) Okay, okay, I guess that means I have to go back to the last one I listened to, which was Portable Sounds, tobyMac's newest. Awesome, awesome stuff!
I am listening to The Lamb has Overcome.(I didn't say Travis Cottrell) and I am listening to Christ Church choir, their lastest cd, love this choir and I enjoy seeing Lici sing there. Kirk Franklin's The New Nation Project and can I mention 80's music?!!
I too have THe Lamb Overcomes in my cd player, but when that's not in, it's been Casting Crown's Alter and the Door (going to see them in October! Yay! LOVE Casting Crowns) and Glory Revealed (thanks to BooMama's recommendation)
I've been listening to the new Casting Crowns CD. AND Leeland - Sound of Melodies. That is one of the BEST CD's I have ever heard. Been listening to it since June and haven't grown tired of it yet! I love that band!
I am listening to my adult choir's fall CD with a plethora of fabulous songs. I'm trying to cram "You are Yahweh" in my brain for this Sunday. However, yesterday on our way to church, my 8 year old son, Jack, asked for #12. That is "Shackles" from "The Lamb Will Overcome".
I have to say that I have played Lamb Has Overcome out on my CD player. Also, my boys love love love TobyMac and so do I, so we listen to Whoopsi Daisy alot!! Travis, I hear he is a Franklin, TN boy too. Love Newsong and Jeremy Camp and Chris Tomlin. Check out Newsong's song Before the Day--it's great....Oh yeah, David Crowder Band is a recent listen and Kutless. We are so blessed to have so many AWESOME christian artists out there. Hope you're well soon Travis.
If singing could bring Jesus back any faster, then your "Forevermore" song surely would have. WOW!! Thanks for coming to Denver! It was a blessing! And on my way home, with sunroof open and hand lifted in praise, Jesus was pleased with FOUND for He painted the most beautiful sunset tonight...and Annie's Song fit right in (geese flying over, too!). Blessings on you and your family, Holly
After Deeper Still in Nashville I downloaded several of Mandisa's new songs. I can't get enough of "God Speaking". I played it to my Bible Study group this past week. Wow! She blows me away.
Kirk Franklin - 'Imagine Me' is the absolute best.. 'Better' is pretty awesome, too..:)
Toby Mac - Portable Sounds - Love 'Ignition' and 'Boomin' while I'm running - Mandisa's Opera Trip is hilarious. I lip sync that to my boys. They cringe.
And I could listen to yours and the Praise Team's version of 'In Christ Alone' a billion times and never be able to get through without crying. Truly - it is perfection on this side of Glory.
Wow--it's really funny to see Franklin's mug on your blog, I just TODAY finished charting "hero" for our Christmas concert. Yeah, I know, it's not a Christmas song, but we're gonna make it work!
I know you said not to, but you are the top CD right now. My mother-in-law bought it at the WOF in Atlanta a few months ago. Wow, does it ever minister to me. Not trying to blow smoke, but your arranger is awesome! So is the producer. That whole CD sounds more like a soundtrack than. I keep seeing a Christian musical in my mind set to those songs (Sort of like the Billy Joel thing). Thanks for putting so much in to it.
Toby Mac--I have four boys ages9-5 and they absolutley love Christian Rap/hip hop. Its not so bad I actually enjoy it myself but generally I prefer Casting Crowns.
Hey again, I'm still listening to "Found" and I have given this Christian musical a lot of thought. I think you should pray about it, because it's driving me crazy! I hear Sanctus as the last song of the first half, maybe coming back in with Rest in You and ending with Your Word is Life. YWIL lends itself to opening the show instrumentally, just like it's woven all through Beth Moore's Daniel study.
Lastly, I really want to give you and all your musicians kudos. You really do work with some talented folks. The soloist in YWIL is beautiful, your bassist rocks (don't know if you change them up, but the one on that song and the one who played with you in Boone ROCK. I'd bet it's the same person.) Those violins at the end of YWIL are crazy. You probably hate someone telling you all this, but at the end of that song, I almost always gasp "AAAHHHH". It's almost as if there's nothing else left to do but go ahead and see His face. Keep doing what you do. And don't forget to pray about this musical, so I can get some sleep.
I misspoke. "Forevermore" would make a powerful ending to the musical. It's the one that could be started earlier in the show, but never finished (perhaps interrupted by some other character) but begun again or finished at the end. That's the song that knocks the wind out of me.
You could end the first half with YWIL, but I love the way Sanctus leaves you hanging- sort of waltzes out the door, and you hold your breath to see if it comes back.
Sorry for all this, but it's burning within me. I felt I had to tell you.
"Jan in NC" obviously has a discerning ear in recognizing good musicianship and a divine gift for music appreciation. Started that musical yet? ;<) -sf
I am not listening to anything in particular unless you consider what our choir is doing for Christmas. But I was watching DWTS - Did you see Dolly? She sang 9to5!
Oh my very goodness! I have a 40 minute commute to the school where I teach and the 2 CD's that are currently traveling with me on the front seat (the rest are on the backseat waiting their turn, all my TC's are there)are Kirk Franklin's Rebirth and Hero projects. I agree with you, Travis, I can't get enough of them either. It is so obvious that God has done a mighty work in our man Kirk over the last several years. To God be the glory!
I would like to think you for being as busy as myself these days, which means the last time you were able to post a blog was about the last time I was able to. I give you grace fellow miesta ... :) Hope things are well!
Well this has been a trying week and I have to say this evening on the way to Bible Study I was listening to The Deep. I can't remember the guy's name that made that CD but he is pretty good. LOL Your Word is Life to Me really lifted my head and reminded me who my Father is !
Travis- that Voices of the Faithfull is hard to take out of the CD player - nice job...LOVE IT. Also - I am loving the new Casting Crowns - Alter and the Door - it is such a message about where I am in my walk right now. Travis - I just learned you will be back at my church for our Christmas show and I am SO EXCITED!! Can't wait.
This has been a great post!.....and since its still going...(he he) wanted to mention this sweet girl that came to our church for a youth concert, Britt Nicole. Even though my girls are younger,(6&9) they loved her and so did I! She is so talented and was so gracious to everyone. Her album (whoops, just showed my age), her CD is called "Say It" and we love the song "you". http://brittnicole.com/
Currently, our Christmas "listening" CD dominates- our music minister insists! :) Loving Gold City QT and Casting Crowns- such diversity. Looking forward to Travis coming to our neck of the woods this Christmas!

With our Hero, we should experience something of the darkness of the garden of Gethsemane and the daylight of the garden tomb.
I am passionate about Jesus, and about my family. And I LOVE my life as a worshipper of the Most High God. And I love my job...my calling...as a worship leader. I travel with Beth Moore and lead worship at her Living Proof Live conferences. It is an honor and a joy. I am crazy about the team I travel with, and the music we get to lift up to Jesus. I am also the Worship Pastor at Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. I love the people of EBC, and am so grateful to be serving Jesus alongside them!

I can't get enough Kirk Franklin either...I could sing his song "Hosanna" over and over and over and over... And do!
