Go Denver!

Hey, everybody! Sorry to keep you hanging so long with my teaser post last week about The Next Great American Band. I was on the road last weekend, and then came home to a busy week.

Anyway, as some of you figured out, my buddy Denver Bierman's band, "Denver and the Mile High Orchestra," is in the top 12 of this new show. Rock on. They are UNBELIEVABLE. I am in Los Angeles right now, and got to be at last night's taping of Friday's show. They killed it. I was so proud.

Everyone PLEASE WATCH and VOTE this Friday night - 8pm eastern on Fox. And get the word out if you can. You will LOVE this band. PLEASE VOTE!

I am not supposed to talk about the taping, so I will not spill any details...except to say DO NOT miss the first of the show.

I have to say that I am a little bit nervous about any possible camera time I might have gotten. All I know is that at the end of my clapping frenzy for Denver, I happened to look over to my right and see a TV monitor, and I caught a glimspe of my unbridled giddyness and excitement on camera. And it was not pretty. AND it was not unlike mine and Angela's unbridled, over-the-top Mandiva-sign-waving appearance at Idol a couple of years ago (only this time I didn't have a sign). So please go easy on me if I have again displayed reality-TV-over-cheesiness.

Denver has been my best buddy for 7 or 8 years now. In addition to his band, he has also sung on my praise team many times...at LPL conferences in Charleston WV, Wisconsin, Montana, Nashville, Saddleback, Indianapolis, Denver and Tallahasse, just to name a few. Go Denver!

My main purpose for being in CA is to do a taping for Kirk Cameron's show on TBN. We tape tonight, and it airs tonight - 10om eastern (9pm central). I would appreciate your prayers for my voice...it is a little tired still from the weekend...and from not getting much sleep this week. Even if I sound bad, I will be so glad to be there...CeCe is singing, too. That's ALWAYS a good thing. And being the 80's pop culture freak that I am, I am really pumped about meeting Mike Seaver.

I hope you all have a great week. The weekend is almost here...you can make it! Walk in the strength, peace and joy that Jesus bought for you. Remember this word today...

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Blessings to you -

Travis

I'll be watching you, CeCe and Denver this week. If I remember correctly, it was you, Angela C. and Denver that you let me sing with before in Houston. Thanks again, and for the spiritual leadership you give in this exciting post.

So much excitement going on and it's all good! Thanks for the hot tips. I'll be tuned in just like last week when Denver and the gang rocked the house...er...the lake! They were incredible!

I pray that your voice will be steady and strong tonight. Have fun and know that we all support you and want the very best for you!

May you be blessed this day!

Hey Travis,

Sounds like you have A LOT going on! Will be watching and praying for you this evening and watching out for you again and voting on Friday. One word of advice -- SPITTLE! Check out Beth's blog if you don't know what I'm talking about. It's a hoot. I, along with all of my girlfriends in the 80s, had a huge crush on Mike Seaver! Have fun.

Have a blessed weekend!

Welcome to Cali! If Bakersfield wasn't so far away, I'd jump on the freeway to see you tape the show! Bummer. Sounds like you're having a fun trip in spite of all the fire upset going on down there. I'll be sure to turn on TBN tonight to check it out. If you get hungry, drive down the street to Maggiano's. Two words: Oh. My.

I wanted to tell you that I appreciate the last few paragraphs and the verses you shared. It truly minsitered to me. My family and myself are moving to Nashville next Friday. It is a "new thing" God is doing and I am excited, nervous, scared, etc... and it's hard to leave the familiar here but I want to go with God. I have had a few family members who are talking behind my back and they are saying we are out of God's will, etc.... I have been praying for them and quoting the verse you posted! So, thank you!!

Go Denver!! May God bless your voice tonight and say hi to CeCe for me! ;)

Travis, what can I say? Wow! How is it that I haven't heard 2000 years before tonight??? That one made my spine tingle..by the time you finished, I was praising right along with you! Well done!

If that had been American Idol, you would have been Hollywood bound. It was just beautiful...as usual. Safe travels to Texas.

Ned Flanders? Dude, that stung! I never would have thought sitting in the orchestra pit with Kenn Hughes conducting that I would be watching him on "American Idol Goes Band" playing 'bone for Denver, of course back then who had even thought of "Reality TV". I remember waiting for our flight out of Charleston and the whole time Denver was working on charts for his band. We are all clowning with jokes and warped iPhoto camera shots and he's working. I appreciate his comittment and professionalism. He has definitely invested much of himself into the band, even gave it his name.
How about "Denver and the Flander Band"?

GO DENVER!!!

Not one, not two, but THREE songs! I taped the broadcast last night and I just saw a little bit of it this morning where we were getting ready for our day. I went online to TBN at work to show you off and that's when I realized you sang three songs! All were wonderful!

Out of the mouths of babes....I was playing back the recording of last night when Austin walked down the stairs. He said "Wow, I think he'd be a great way for people to want to become Christians! They are going to hear him and wonder what inspired him to sing so much!" Caroline just wanted to know why you were making "funny faces"! Nanc

Love this statement Travis, "Walk in the strength, peace and joy that Jesus bought for you." Thanks for that.

PS-I did see you on Kirk Cameron's show and was blessed. It was at around 6or7 though. CeCe was on there too. It was good. (Also Ravi Z whom I love!)

Travis,
Thank you for your music. I drove on a 125 mile round-trip road trip today and listened to "The Lamb Has Overcome" the whole way there and back. Praising my Jesus sure lifts my spirits. My favorites are "Sanctuary", "Lord, You're Holy", and of course, "Shackles"! I had the music so loud I didn't hear my phone ringing! My daughter tried to call me 3 times and because I had the ear piece plugged in the phone automatically picked up -- all she could hear was your music and me singing! Ha! Ha! I thought it was hilarious, she was annoyed. (she's 17 and adorable) I told her I was having fun rocking out and praising my Jesus. She just said, "Oh Mom!" It was a great trip -- thanks again.
