A Brief Word

Hey, friends. I have been a BAD blogger this season. I know. I'm so sorry. I want to blog more. In fact, I have an AWESOME story about my journeys this past weekend that I can't wait to write. But I will have to. I am in rehearsals all week for the Christmas tour, which begins Thursday night here in Middle Tennessee.

Speaking of which, you can watch our rehearsal tomorrow (Wednesday) over at Shaun Grove's blog. It's riveting and captivating. And by 'riveting' and 'captivating' I mean B.O.R.I.N.G.

Don't forget to check out the tour page on this website to see if we are coming close to you in the next three weeks.

Everybody doing OK? Shopping done? Staying warm? I hope all is well with you.

Hum. . . I've got to sit in a boring faculty meeting all day tomorrow (Wednesday). I'll gladly trade places with you Travis. A rehearsal, even a B.O.R.I.N.G one, sounds much better to me than a nerdy faculty meeting.

So, maybe I'll head over to Sean's blog and check it out on my break (praying that we DO get a break tomorrow). Argh!!

I found your music on Zune, loved your version of "In the First Light"- long my favorite Christmas song.

Hope you get to the Omaha area sometime.
God bless!

I watched a little of the rehearsal yesterday. I heard the word "snoooooow" a lot. :) Hope you have a great tour; wish it was coming my way.

Your Christmas CD is G.R.E.A.T. I gave all of my husband's family a copy at Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit. I wish your concert was coming our way...Phoenix is beautiful this time of year!

I was going to come see you this Thursday but I have a horrible sinus infection and I don't think you want me sneezing throughout your concert. :)

As for the shopping...I started but I am just not into it this year. That isn't like me but all I can think about is our trip to Destin in 6 months. lol

We have ordered my oldest son his big present he wanted. We also ordered son number 2 the electric guitar(He has 3 guitars now) he wanted and I cannot wait to see their faces when they see their big presents.
The funny thing about the oldest son's present, free weights and a bench. I can't wait to see FedEx deliver this pkg. Lol 50lb weights. Now, where to hide the presents?!
Have a great concert tomorrow night.
Blessings,
Patty

I just have to share this with you...

I am at my desk at work right now, listening to "In the First Light"... and a co-worker just walked in and said "Oh, is that Josh Groban?"

OH SnAP! :) I said "No, he's better. This is Travis"

Hope things calm down for you.. can't wait to hear you at Converge next week!

you are too funny. We know you are super busy. Now if you slack off with the blogging on a week when we know you are home on the couch...well that would be different.

Decorating is almost done. Shopping is mostly done. Just waiting on the family photos to come back before finishing the Christmas letter.

Now to dive into the Christmas Choir music tonight in rehearsal. oh....and actually get some work done for the office somewhere in there.....

Ok, but just because you're busy doesn't exempt you from blogging about this weekend. The world needs to know. Chop chop. Thump thump.

Hope you've had time to get to Wal Mart to get your $6.99 back.

Thump.

LOVE, LOVE the Christmas CD. The problem is that I keep loaning it out to friends and so I have only listened to it once or twice. What does that say about me? Generous friend or goofy girl who should tell them to get their own copies!!

I was just thinking about you today, because, as my girls were arriving for bible study this morning, I had "Ring the Bells" playing. One of the girls was trying to tell me something and I said, "Hang on a minute, I can't hear you - gotta turn Travis down."

I laughed to myself as I said it, thinking, "I wonder if Travis's mom ever had to say that?" :o)

Blessings from sunny Florida,
Melinda

I had the cutest thing happen the other day. Grace and I were in the car listening to Ring the Bells. She said, "Mama, can I turn it to number three? That's my favorite." When I asked her why she said, "Because it starts so small and then get's so strong. Just like Jesus started as a tiny little baby and then grew up so big." Who would have guessed my 8 year old would be so profound?

Needless to say we are thoroughly enjoying your CD. And...my husband also compared you to Josh Groban.

Blessings,
Kimberly

I received Ring the Bells on Weds before Turkey Day. I've listened to it all weekend while sewing Chrstmas dresses for my two little girls. Beyond spectacular!! What a fabulous Christmas album!

And "Jesus Saves"? Quite possibly the BEST song put on a Christmas album EVER! I'm on the worship team at church and we WILL be doing that song sometime, hopefully soon! Talk about bringing a word! And your versions of "O Holy Night" and "O Come Emmanuel" - also fabulous! I'm preparing the songsheet for a carol sing at our ladies Christmas tea and I put in the last verse of O Come that you used because it's not so well known and very powerful, so thanks for that!

Thanks so much for doing what you do and bringing such glory to our amazing God! A blessed season to you and yours!

I had the same experience as Jen who commented. I was listening to the Christmas CD and my youngest daughter walked in the room and said: "Is that Josh Groban?" I said "No, that's my buddy, Trav! Doesn't he sound gooooooood! And look, he signed my CD cover!!!!!!!"

Just had to share! :>)

Travis, I was thinking of telling you this yesterday. I have been to Christian bookstores three times in the last month looking to purchase Ring the Bells and was only successful on one attempt. Now I am waiting for Amazon.com to come through for me. Anyway, love the CD, am giving as a gift to friends.

I got all excited about your Christmas tour, but am apparently too yankee or something. Could be it's just too stinkin' cold up here in the MN? I don't blame you. Most of Dec - Feb I don't want to be here either. Just consider this a request for Minneapolis. Or better yet, Alexandria!

I'm in a shopping slump to be exact. I've already confessed that my boys have everything (shame on me I know) so we are in a big "hmmmmmmmm" right now. Any ideas...12 and 11 yr olds are hard to buy for.

Merry Christmas!

You are coming to our church Saturday and we are all soooooooo excited! We had a great choir practice last night getting ready and we just can't believe you're really coming! :) And that we get to see you for real as opposed to on a Jumbotron!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I know we will!

Travis,
I received you Christmas CD as an early Christmas gift - a perfect pick-me-up on a day I was suffering with the stomach flu. But I wanted to say thanks for the first song, it totally reminded me of the church I grew up in - a Catholic almost-cathedral with the organ, trumpet, and kettle drums on Christmas and Easter. I would always want to stand and listen instead of file out with everyone else. Incredible. Your "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" brought me right back, and I haven't been back there in over 10 years. Thank you so much! Your gifts are a blessing to so many of us Travis. Thank you for sharing them!

Travis,

Every year I attempt to purchase one new Christmas cd to add to my collection. Over the past few years, i haven't bought a ingle one b/c none of the offerings tempted me. This past summer, however, at a Living Proof Event, I heard the wonderful news-- you would be releasing a Christmas album come autumn... immediately I knew which album I'd be acquiring this holiday season :o)

Ring the Bells is, w/o a doubt, the best Christmas album I've listened to in a very long time, if ever, quite actually. Thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of us and for serving our Lord so sacrificially... you have been a blessing to me on countless occasions, and for that, i thank you~

Oh, and no Josh Groban comparisons here. No, instead... just this morning my 7 yo son said, "Mom, he sounds like the Phantom of the Opera."
That's a mighty big compliment in our home :)

Okay, I'm going out on a limb...fixin' to tick Santa off...but I can't help it!!! I'M POUTING!!! (no that wasn't shouting...just trying to show you how far my bottom lip is out). Everyone is talking about the CD and dadgum it, mine hasn't come yet!!!! I've gotten a couple of emails explaining the delay, but if patience is a virtue...well, I'm losing my virtue!!! I've been waiting F-O-R-E-V-E-R!

As for shopping...getting it done slowly but surely and even had a wii victory the other day - yes, wii, not wee! Decorating done.

Big Christmas program is next week. Rehearsal every night, performances next Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I would much rather be at your rehearsal than ours, Trav! And for the record, no, I don't sing. I would never do that to the general public. I don't even do that to myself except when the music is really loud and I sound just like whoever is on the CD. I'm just a wing flapper -that's code for an angel - shhhh...that well, sort of dances (yikes!)...we just don't say that out loud because some of the older members of our conservative Baptist church might not survive it.

I do so wish you were coming a little closer to my part of Texas! I've been praying for you tonight with the big kick off! As a Compassion supporter, I'm praying for big things to happen!

Blessings to you! Cindy

Travis - No apology needed! You keep the main thing the main thing and we will keep praying and supporting you!

I know it takes a lot of focus and hard work to bear fruit - so take care of yourself and your sweet family!

Loving the Christmas CD - Jesus Saves - AWESOME!

Travis-
My buddy just called and said she was GIVEN two tickets to GLORIA! on Sat. It was by a medical professional who had been praying all day who to give them to, and she was a patient that day. How cool is that? She was sure I would be going and now I am sulking all over again that I can't be there!!
ps. I enjoyed the rehersal, thanks!
