Big Day

We had a momentous day at the Cottrell household this week. Levi lost his first tooth. Now, everybody loses their teeth, I know. But there's something about that younger child who has watched his older siblings lose one tooth after another. When his day comes, it is a big one...and his patience is rewarded with all the blood and pain that he has so longed for.

It took a few days of wiggling and pushing and pulling and nervous jumping and encouraging and staring into the mirror and carrying of many barely-bloody kleenexes. But yeeha! It happened. Here are a few photos to celebrate the journey...I sure do love that sweet face...

Can't you see? Clearly, it is just barely hanging there. :>)

Let me do it!

Wait a minute. This is going to hurt, isn't it?

We even pose for a picture at the THOUGHT of the tooth coming out soon.

I am going to will it out.

Woo hoo! My daddy pulled my tooth!

What time is it? 6:30? Wow, I think I'm already ready for bed for some strange reason. I got the tooth. Good night.

Do I get extra money for cuteness?

And, in honor of the tooth fairy, enjoy this funny clip.

(Stay with it...the last line is worth the wait.)

Congratulations Levi!!! Way to go! Hope the Tooth Fairy was good to ya. My Rebekah is getting ready to lose her last tooth, thank goodness. From the day she realizes she has a loose tooth until the day it comes out she is miserable. She definitely got that from me. My Abigail loves to have loose teeth and she loves to pull them herself. But mostly I think she loves to terrorize me by following me around and making it wiggle and stick out of her mouth. The grosser the better. For some reason she thinks that is funny.

Precious! and You most certainly get extra money for cuteness.

Heard on the news that Boone has a terrorist on the loose......His first stop was Wal-Mart.

Surely the cuteness factor helped get the boy an extra one or two dollars! :)

Congrats Levi! You are all grown up now.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Fran

Woohoo on the tooth, Levi! I'm sure you were very brave.

My youngest boy can't wait to lose a tooth. He can't understand why he still needs his BABY teeth. He IS 6!

Funny clip, by the way. ha! :)

So fun! Our 6 year old just lost her 2 front teeth and what a celebration it was here in the Kaylor Kastle. But I too have a Tooth Fairy confession...sometimes our Tooth Fairy forgets to leave the money til during breakfast time because she really really likes her sleep. ;o)

That clip is stinkin' hilarious! Confession is good for the soul, ya know?

Congratulations, Levi!

what's more disturbing than the video, is that you KNEW about it to include it...

My five year old son (third of three boys) came to me yesterday and told me his tooth hurt. I looked at it, and sure enough...it's loose! When I told him, he breathlessly exclaimed, "I have a loose tooth?" and wrapped a big old bear hug of joy around my neck. Then he leaned back, and said, "Mama, your baby is growing up." Yeah, I guess he is. Big old sigh.

What a momentous day!

This reminds me of the story Priscilla Shirer told about her son loosing his tooth...and them paying him with his own birthday money! :)

Wow...congrats to Levi!! He is presh!! My son will be 8 in Sept., did you hear me?? 8 and the boy doesn't even have one HOPE of a loose tooth. They are as tight as tight can be in that blonde little head of his...so we SO understand the blog worthiness of this momentous event!!!

Thanks for the chuckle - that video was so funny. My 10 year old daughter lost a tooth about a month ago and the tooth fairy still hasn't come. She asked me if the tooth fairy was broke...I said "No, 'she' has money but she's too tired to get up in the night and make the trade...just help yourself and take a dollar out of 'her' wallet!"

Yay Levi!! I know that is such an exciting first for him.

And the video? Quite silly :) Quite!

In fact, it inspired me to dig out some old songs on youtube from when Chris and I began dating 18 years ago, yesterday. Check it out, when you can. The mullets are way fun!

The Tooth Fairy video was TOO funny. I remember once falling asleep before I could "leave the money" for Jeff. Boy did we have some story to make up the next morning when he went looking. MC

That video was too funny! Congrats to Levi!! As I was reading the comments, I was relieved to see that other "tooth fairies" have enjoyed their sleep too! My poor kids just go get a ziploc bag, put the tooth in, tag it (name and date), put it in the keep sake drawer and tell me they need a $1 for the tooth! Doesn't do much for the mama ego but hopefully I make up for it in other areas...by the way my kids are 15, 14, and 11...I'm on the endside of this childhood passage! Enjoy those precious years they pass too quickly!
