Happy Weekend
Hey! I have had a crazy week, and it's about to get even crazier. We are heading to my hometown today - Boone, NC. The kids get out of school at noon (yea - the last day of school!), and then we are driving on from there. We have a Living Proof Live event there!
Did you hear me? A Living Proof Live event in my hometown. I am beside myself. And behind myself. And going all around myself. And in front of myself. Too. Much. Excitement.
The praise team is heading over today, too. We are going to sound check early, then head over to one of my favorite restaurants, where we all - the praise team and my family - are going to enjoy an amazing lunch.
We are going to spend a few days there after the event with my family. Looking forward to relaxing a day or two.
I didn't blog about American Idol this week...partly because I was in silent protest over Melinda, and partly because I was bored with it. It just seems so formulamatic at times. There was no suspense.
But I will say that I enjoyed the final show. There was some great singing going on. Jordin and Blake did a great job on Wednesday. And I loved hearing all of the other idols sing - they all were awesome.
I missed Fantasia. She is one of the most passionate and compelling singers I have ever heard.
How about Melinda with BeBe and CeCe? I thought Angela and I were going to bounce into our upstairs from our den. It was crazy awesome.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Wahhhhhhhh!
Melinda was voted off American idol. Wrong. Sad and wrong.
Best. Singer. Period. Love her 5 times.

Favorites
I love lists. I love Top 10 lists. When I was growing up, one of my favorite TV shows was a Saturday afternoon show called "America's Top 10 with Casey Kasem." It counted down the top 10 songs on Billboard every week. I loved it. I also would record the end of the year top 100 countdown off the radio onto a cassette every New Year's Eve. I know...exciting New Year's Eves in Boone, NC.
So I love to think of stuff like top ten movies, favorite shows ever, favorite songs. These are some of my favorite songs (note; this will probably be different tomorrow):
Favorite pop song: Rock With You - Michael Jackson (Leave me alone. I was 11. And he was cool then.)
Favorite pop ballad: Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) - Phil Collins
Favorite current worship song - I Will Boast - Paul Baloche, Revelation Song - Gateway
Favorite old worship song - Wonderful, Merciful Savior
Favorite hymn - Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy, What Wondrous Love Is This

Leapin' Lizards
I'm alive, alive, alive, hallelujah...
I have been a bad blogger this week...I apologize for the long pause between posts. I don't guess I need to apologize...I think the posts are more for me than anybody. It has been a nice break, but I have missed the outlet, and the communication.
So after church last Sunday morning, I walked out into the lobby of the worship center. And the first thing I see is my son, along with a few people, staring up at a high spot on the wall. I walked little closer and looked for what they were looking at. Way above us was a banner - the banner that states the message for our church's building campaign:
Lo and behold, there was a gooey pink object smack dab in the middle of the banner. It was one of those sticky, gooey, rubbery lizards...you know, the kind you get for 50 cents in the cheap toy machine at CiCi's Pizza. And MY SON had flicked it up on the wall. There it was...hanging on to that proud and ambitious banner. A pink sticky thingy. And my son put it there.
Come on, kids, I thought to myself. Let's get out of here before we draw attention to it.
Well, it wasn't just the most horrible offense. But then it happened...the masses came to stare at...and gawk at...and ponder how to reach...my son's lizard. My son ended up on a tall friend's shoulder to try to reach the reptile...with an umbrella. But to no avail. The moment ended with our very pastor himself vaulting for the little critter with an umbrella...but without any luck. The (probably pretty pricey) banner was left with a few faint scratches from the overly-ambitious umbrella jumpers, but it wasn't too bad.
So we all walked away, leaving the glowing pink creature hanging on to the banner. And that's when it occurred to me. We should change the caption.
Change the world. One mission. One message. One lizard.

O Praise Him
I know I am going a little youtube crazy today. But my buddy just sent this to me. Good grief. It is awesome. Just watching it makes me want to stand on my chair and praise Him right now. I think I will.
Unbelievable
This guy is amazing. Nobody like this guy has ever been on American Idol. Win or lose, this guy is set.

An Unfocused But Happy Post
Hey, friends! It has been too long since I have written. It has been a roller coaster few days. There is so much to talk about, and I feel really unfocused, so I am going to just start typing.
OK, I am trying to blog and watch American idol at the same time. It's not working. It was a pretty good night, considering that it was rock night, and none of these singers are rock singers. Here is how I would rate tonight's performances:
1. Blake - unbelievable. I have never been that cool in my life.
2. Melinda - best singer. I hope she wins. I can't get enough of her voice.
3. Phil - his performances have gotten better and better.
The other three were ok...not great...tonight.
On to other stuff...
Thanks to everybody who left kind wishes and congratulations last week after the Doves. I am still in shock. Winning a Dove award was something I don't think I ever considered as a feesible possibility in life. So to say I am grateful is an understatement.
Back to the real stuff...
My kids had their spring musical at church Sunday night. Lily Kate had a solo, and Jack had a very funny speaking part. They did a great job!
And, this past weekend was awesome in Albuquerque. We had a Living Proof Live event there.
I hope the rest of the week is great for you!
