Random Post

Hey, friends. Hope you are doing well today. I just got home from Estes Park, CO, and am heading to Bentonville, AR in the morning for a women's conference and a Sunday morning church concert. I am not used to such a quick turnaround. But it has been a fun few hours at home. We spent most of the night at the football field. Jack started football this week. He LOVES it. And the other two love going to the practices...and walking around, playing, and thinking they own the place.

Here are some random things I have been wanting to write about...

1. Where did all the diving boards go? I miss having diving boards at swimming pools. I know that it is because of insurance and safety reasons that most public pools don't have them anymore. When I was a kid, our local pool (in BOONE, NC) had a separate deep pool (11 ft.), with 3 diving boards - low, medium and high. It was awesome. And I feel sure the world is missing my amazing cannonball.

2. Levi has been saying the sweetest thing. We have often talked about the girls having "girl time" when mom and Lily Kate go off somewhere together, and us having "boy time" when the two boys and I go somewhere. Well, Levi calls it "boyish time." Makes me grin every time I hear him say it. Boyish time. Too much.

3. Does anybody remember Astro Pops? They are cone-shaped suckers on a stick...three colors (green, red and yellow), with a small rim of wax on the bottom. If anybody sees them somewhere, please let me know. I can't find them anymore. I used to be able to find them at random Cracker Barrels, but not so much anymore.

4. This is crazy...but...Lily Kate's birthday party falls on the night of the premiere of "High School Musical 2" on the Disney Channel. So, we are getting cable for 1 month, just so she and her friends can watch it for her birthday. The things we do for love.

5. Angela came into the room a minute ago to tell me she had, indeed made an appearance in the pictures on the last post. She is in the background of the one of the bride and groom. Click on it and you will see her. She has given this picture of her her blessing. You know, being that it's 20 feet away and blurry. : >)

6. I know fast food is bad for you. But I gotta say that I am currently a big fan of the Hardees thickburger. Try it out. it will be ministry to you. I want one RIGHT NOW.

7. One of my very best friends in the whole world is Denver Bierman. We have been friends for years. You may know him because of his awesome band - Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. Check them out. They are crazy good. Denver sometimes (rarely) comes out and sings on my praise team. It doesn't happen often, because he is usually busy with his band. Well, he is going to be on my team in Arkansas this weekend, and I am so glad. I can't wait to hang out and worship Jesus with my buddy.

7. Last random thing to tell you today...my record, "Found" was number 1 on the inspo charts last week! It is the 2nd time it has been number 1 on that chart. I know that doesn't really mean anything, but it great encouragement to us. Thanks to all of you who have bought it. I am so grateful to serve Jesus in this generation with all of you!

Have a great weekend...

Travis

Trav,

Has it really been since Gatlinburg since I've seen you? Surely not!!

Astro Pops - DEFINITELY remember them!!! Butch and I were just talking about these the other day. We talked about how you would work on them long enough to sharpen them to a razor-sharp point -- could be why you can't find them anymore. They were indeed a weapon!! Surely some ballpark storage closet somewhere has a big case of 'em stashed in the back. Nah -- they would have probably been sold on e-bay by now!

But wait -- google is the most amazing thing!! Check this out...

Hey Travis,

We are also cableless(by choice). My girls can't wait for High School Musical 2. The hubby will be out of town that weekend so we are going to have a girls weekend out and stay at a hotel so we can watch. I have to admit that I'm also a pretty big fan. I am also using the excuse of it being one last excursion before school starts so the girls can swim and have a little bit more summer fun. Your CD 'Found' is AWESOME, just like all the others. It deserves to be #1 on the charts. Have a safe trip to Arkansas and looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta next week.
God Bless

Congrats on the #1! All I know is that your music has definitely been a blessing to me. I'm so glad you allow God to use you like He does. So, did Jack find his underwear for camp this year? (I was in Oklahoma last year.) That's one of my favorite stories I've ever heard. I have an 8 year old boy that I could imagine doing the same thing. Boys. Don't you just love them?

It makes me sad that you'll be in Arkansas (where I live) and I'll be out of town! I love your music...

I totally miss diving boards!! We had a low and a high growing up, and it was so much fun. We put in a pool at home last year and all we could get was a stinkin' slide. My kids love it, but they don't know what their missing!!

HSM2....counting the days at my house. We have cable, but a DVR is a great way to control what and how much everybody watches. Plus you can fast forward through the commercials. We watch Andy Griffith and Bonanza the most.
#1....well deserved! 2000 years is my new favorite!
ps. got Mandisa's CD this week Awesome!

Hi,

I usually "lurk" here but couldn't resist the chance to say CONGRATS on the #1 spot! That is awesome. God continues to use your music to bless our family over and over. Thank you for being obedient to Him.

We too are celebrating our oldest daughters birthday the weekend of H.S. Musical 2's premier. In fact, it's turned into a red carpet party. The things we do for our kids!

Thanks for sharing your family with us!

I am totally laughing out loud in this silent house and I feel like a dork. With my utmost respect to Angela, she needs to know that the aforementioned picture was a pitiful excuse for her making it into the picture post :) lol

1) I just recently commented about the lack of diving boards to a friend. I say they should learn how to play like we did - you took the head falls if it happened and kept going!
2) Have fun this weekend worshipping the Lord with your buddy. I know that will be a sweet time...I mean...er..."boyish" time :)
And finally, please make sure you sit down to read the following. Dear Travis, it is with much sympathy that I need to let you know that according to internet sources, your beloved Astro Pops are no longer being manufactured and have not been for almost a year. (GASP) (TEARS...). I bid them adieu. Mourn brother...just mourn!

Travis,

We still have a diving board at the seminary. Stop in and visit sometime and show off that canon-ball.

Astro-pops were responsible for one of the times I dislodged my braces.

My Kids are also awaiting High School Musical #2. Especially my nine year old Ashley.

No surprise about the album -- my whole family loves it.

Blessings!

I have never done this with any other food item, but when I tried the Hardees thickburger for the first time I called my husband from the car to let him know that I was eating the most awesome burger on the planet. When he ate one, he understood. Our youngest son is turning 4 at the end of August, but he requested a High School Musical 2 Premiere Party for his birthday (guess it is for girls AND boys!) We have reserved a movie viewing room and are having a "LIVE" premiere on Friday night. Too fun! (PS...Just shed a few tears at the news that Astro Pops are discontinued. What's next...Razzles?! Say it ain't so!)

Travis,
I know I am way late on posting this BUT better late than never. This post was too funny! I agree with you about the diving boards. Our pool has a diving board and I have seen my fair share of cannonballs balls this summer. My pastor and his family have been over this summer for cookouts and swimming and he does a mean cannonball. Between him and my brother can you say tsunami? (no I don't mean they are overweight,) their cannonball has a mean splash! I also do this, take a float and wrap your arms around it and start jumping up and down real fast for an awesome wave pool! It is hilarious to see people hang on to their floats.
Astro Pop, I played softball for many years and I remember those. They were very popular at the ballpark.
Thickburger, they are so good but I don't eat them to much. My weakness, Taco Bell and Japanese food. A weekly event in our house.

Found cd, I bought it the day it was released and I love it!! You have one of the most powerful voices I know of and the cd just blows me away!!!
Last month I was in Nashville at Christ Church,(at the music conference) and I was thinking as I was there and as I heard Lici sing, (that girl rocks my face off) that Travis and his praise team should be there!! Hopefully you all will be there next year. BTW..I was pushing your new Christmas Musical....I was working the table!! LOL!!

Okay, gotta go get my eyebrows waxed. Have a great week!!

Thickburgers rule!
I also remember Astropops from when my family would go camping when I was a child. The store at the campground sold them and I would always get one!
