Favorites

I love lists. I love Top 10 lists. When I was growing up, one of my favorite TV shows was a Saturday afternoon show called "America's Top 10 with Casey Kasem." It counted down the top 10 songs on Billboard every week. I loved it. I also would record the end of the year top 100 countdown off the radio onto a cassette every New Year's Eve. I know...exciting New Year's Eves in Boone, NC.

So I love to think of stuff like top ten movies, favorite shows ever, favorite songs. These are some of my favorite songs (note; this will probably be different tomorrow):

Favorite pop song: Rock With You - Michael Jackson (Leave me alone. I was 11. And he was cool then.)
Favorite pop ballad: Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) - Phil Collins
Favorite current worship song - I Will Boast - Paul Baloche, Revelation Song - Gateway
Favorite old worship song - Wonderful, Merciful Savior
Favorite hymn - Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy, What Wondrous Love Is This

Travis, thanks for this. I needed to think about music I love this morning!

Favorite pop song: RESPECT by Aretha Franklin. OK, it's not Pop, but it ROCKS!

Favorite pop ballad: Endless Love. I know it's corny, but it makes my heart dance.

Favorite current worship song - How Great is our God. I can't sing it at church without falling in love with Him all over again!

Favorite old worship song - There's Something About that Name.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

Favorite hymn - His Eye is on the Sparrow. It makes me think of Psalm 139, what a comfort.

May the Lord bless your day!

OH MY WORD - I did the same thing every new years. (I lived in Flippin, AR! Now that beats Boone). We weren't really allowed to listen to secular music - but I would turn the volume down on my "beat box" and have several casette tapes ready. I mean they only held 30 minutes each side. I would label them and listen to them over and over. ha!
I have a different favorite song every day. What I can't listen to without crying or lifting my hands in the car is "In Christ Alone" and "Made me Glad" (Hillsong). But I just got XM and I have been loving the 90's station right now! I'm back in college every time I get in the car!

Probable for change in the near future :)
1) Favorite pop song - too difficult! How about embarrassingly admitting that my first ever owned CD was Paula Abdul! lol. What can I say :)?
2) Favorite current worship song: YES SIR - the 'Revelation Song!' Good heavens I cannot get enough of that one. Along with 'In Christ alone,' 'Lord, You're Holy,' 'Total Praise,' and whatever the name of the one that starts off as 'Give me one Pure and Holy Passion,' 'Made me Glad,''None but Jesus' and 'The Potter's Hand'(Hillsong)
3) Favorite shut-the-mini-blinds for a praise session songs: Victory (Yolanda Adams), Shackles, Friend of God, We Shine (Matt Redman), O Praise Him (David Crowder)
4) Favorite hymns/old school: 'Worthy is the Lamb,' 'I Stand in Awe,'Before the Throne of God Above,' and the absolute: Come Thou fount of every blessing

Ok, I have trouble picking out ice cream at the grocery store...it all tastes good! But if I have to narrow it down for songs...here goes:

Favorite pop song: Anything by the BeeGees...but especially How Deep Is Your Love...
Favorite pop ballad: Ok, it's country, which is not my favorite style of music, but this song always gets me...He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones...:(
Favorite current worship song: Made to Love by Tobymac
Favorite old worship song - My Deliverer by Rich Mullins and Alabastar Box by Cece Winans
Favorite hymn - We Shall Behold Him

And that's how I pickem today!! Tomorrow my favorites will definitely be different because there are just so many awesome artists today. Travis, I love all of yours, too. Mother of an Only Son, You Changed My Name, and Annie's Song...I love how you continue to use some of the old faithful hymns in your works!

Have a blessed day!

Fantasia's fine and Kelly's cool
And Carrie's pert and plucky.
But the one that heads up my top ten
Is that brilliant blond named Bucky.

We have spent over 10 years in Baptist church choir (one in Little Rock with the very first woman to lead worship in the Baptist church, Mrs. Jean Pilcher) and the other in East Texas with Don Parks...so I have to admit, I love contemporary, but some of this choral hymn-singing just gets me going. I like Benjamin Harlin and Pepper Chopin.

Right now, I'm about to have a head MRI, so I get to choose a CD and I'm picking my new Chris Tomlin, "How can I keep from singing" and "Amazing Grace."

In our kitchen CD player is your CD and I am teaching our kids to sing and worship to "The Lamb has Overcome." Oh, Praise Him! I switch it out periodically with Cindy and Billy Foote.

And a confession, I've been playing "I wanna talk about me" by Toby Keith every time my Chris is around :) Hee hee!

Finally, I am a huge Chris Rice fan, so really anything he sings, I like to hear and sing along...just tonight "My Cathedral" to our little Sydney.

Have a great weekend ya'll!
