Happy Weekend

Hey! I have had a crazy week, and it's about to get even crazier. We are heading to my hometown today - Boone, NC. The kids get out of school at noon (yea - the last day of school!), and then we are driving on from there. We have a Living Proof Live event there!

Did you hear me? A Living Proof Live event in my hometown. I am beside myself. And behind myself. And going all around myself. And in front of myself. Too. Much. Excitement.

The praise team is heading over today, too. We are going to sound check early, then head over to one of my favorite restaurants, where we all - the praise team and my family - are going to enjoy an amazing lunch.

We are going to spend a few days there after the event with my family. Looking forward to relaxing a day or two.

I didn't blog about American Idol this week...partly because I was in silent protest over Melinda, and partly because I was bored with it. It just seems so formulamatic at times. There was no suspense.

But I will say that I enjoyed the final show. There was some great singing going on. Jordin and Blake did a great job on Wednesday. And I loved hearing all of the other idols sing - they all were awesome.

I missed Fantasia. She is one of the most passionate and compelling singers I have ever heard.

How about Melinda with BeBe and CeCe? I thought Angela and I were going to bounce into our upstairs from our den. It was crazy awesome.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Travis

How excited was I to see Travis join the blogging universe! I too was bored with AI after Melinda was voted off. Love her as much as we love Mandissa.

Love your music, you are one of my top singers on my ipod.

Looking forward to know what is going on with Travis and family.

Travis and Angela,
I have already prayed for you and the praise team and for safe travels! I am so excited because I will be in Boone for the conference. I live in east Tennessee and it is just a 2 hour drive for us. If you read this before you go, please suggestions on where to eat? We are leaving early tomorrow to look around the town before the conference! Have a fun weekend with your family!!

Love,
Patty

Patty,

There are so many great places to eat in Boone and Blowing Rock. When we want home cookin', we go to The Mountain House, on 321 near the mall. We also love Makoto's, also on 321. There is a good place called Pepper's up on the hill over looking 321, up above the Backyard Burger, where the Harris Teeter grocery store is. The JC Hottentot sandwhich is great!

If you go uptown, you can always eat at the Boone Drug - it is a pharmacy and old time fountain shop. Get a hot dog and a vanilla coke, and you will be blessed!

Patty,

There is also a fun place for breakfast or a snack - very close to the convocation center. It is called Stick Boy Bread Co. It's on Hardin Street. If you walk out of the convocation center, take a left on Hardin Street, and it is just around the corner on the right.

Cinnamon rolls, cookies, juices, breads...

Mmmmm!

PS - Oh, and also stop by the Candy Barrell and the Mast General Store uptown.

PPS - Oh! And also, The Cornerstone is one of the coolest christian bookstores i have ever seen. It is on 321 near Wal-Mart. It is a must-see!

PPPS - Can you tell I am hometown-proud?

Hey Travis! I giggled out loud when I read that you were beside yourself, behind yourself, all around yourself and in front of yourself. I pictured 5 of you grinning and maybe riding on the top of the car to N.C. with your fist in the air. Have a great time. Heard on K-love that Jordin is a strong Christian. How cool is that! Yay God! -Gram

After watching last year's AI, I was a little disapointed w/ this years finale. LOVED LOVED LOVED seeing Bebe and Cece, though! They are as awesome as ever.
I was watching for a comment from you about Scott Krippayne winning the songwriters contest on AI. I thought that was huge!
We DVRed it and watched after church and I felt like I fastforwarded commercials more than I watched the show...a little frustrating! I was also a little in shock at how they showcased Sanjaya...so many awesome singers (Hello, Lakisha???)and HE does a number on his own?
Any idea when you'll be close to Alabama for an event? I saw you last year in Birmingham. Hope this event is great;you and the team will be in my prayers.

I'm totally cracking up at your restaurant tour of Boone. Thank you! I'll be there and am thankful for the tips. A girl's got to have some good food to able to hold up for Jesus the entire weekend :) Bless you in your hometown! And my sweet tooth says thank you for letting it know about Stick Boy Bread Co.

I am SO excited for your trip to Boone and wanted to be there for the message and worship, but now I want to go there for the FOOD. We love you guys and are praying as always. Loved BeBe and CeCe AND Melinda. Jordan's "True Love Waits" ring speaks highly of her ... she will be a good Idol. Blessings, Mary

Travis,
I always get a kick out of reading your blogs. I have to say that I am very sad that I will not be in Boone(one of my favorite places in the South) to enjoy the conference. Actually, I am child sitting for friends who are going! I must be crazy, but at least my friends will enjoy the weekend.

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful weekend of fun, eating,(looks as if that is big on your list of things to do) and fellowship.

Happy Memorial Day! Will be praying for safe travels and God's presences.

I think there are a lot of people silently protesting the whole Melinda thing.

Oh, by the way - "formulamatic" is a really great word. I will be using it on a regular basis : >

I'm praying for you and the team this weekend. Have a wonderful time back home in beautiful Boone. Nothing is finer than going home to North Carolina!

I can hardly wait to hear about the blessings of the weekend!

Travis,

This post has made me laugh -- I'm very excited for you to go home this weekend. I wondered why you didn't mention to Patty about the Candy Barrell since you, Angela and the kids have all said something to me in the last year about the Candy Barrell. Then, of course, I scrolled down and saw where you came back for Round 2 of the Cottrell Tour of Boone and did a Candy Barrell shout out.

I'm disappointed! I could have gone with Patty to Boone, but have out of town company! By the way, she is the one who found the 4 extra tickets for you -- I didn't know if you knew that or not. She and I were friends more than 25 years ago and "found" each other again on the LPM blog -- way cool!

Have fun!!! Tell Ang I said hi!

Travis,
I just have to come over to your site and tell you how special you are to me. I watched Beth's tribute and just wept! God has truly touched so many lives through your ministry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a genuine worshiper of The Lord Most High. I will be looking forward to September at Belmont for the Deeper Still Event. You and your team are in my prayers.
Love,

Travis,

I am so happy to have found your blog. I sing in a choir in Richardson, TX. Today we sang "You Humble Me". Before I realized you co-wrote and arranged it, I was singing the words in practice. I thought to myself how much the words sounded like a prayer Beth had said or had stated in one of her Bible Studies. So my question is: "Did you write 'I fall on my face completely undone, confounded by grace; astounded by love' based on something you had heard from Beth or was it something you had experienced? Does that make sense?
Thanks,
Stephanie
