Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Our weekend in Stockton for Living Proof Live a couple of weeks ago was an eventful one. There were lots of things that I was going to do with my time that made it a jam-packed schedule...singing Thursday night for a LifeWay women's training event, a radio interview early Friday morning, spending time with some of my west coast bff's, to name a few.

As soon as I got there on Thursday before my event, I saw somebody say on twitter that Michael Jackson had been rushed to the hospital. So as soon as I got to the hotel I turned on the tv news to check it out. Of course I was glued for the rest of the afternoon.

While I was watching the news, all of a sudden I heard a bunch of guys yelling and carrying on outside my hotel window. It was odd to hear this kind of noise in a hotel. So I went over and looked out. Lo and behold, there were 5 or 6 guys playing whiffle ball in the courtyard of our hotel.

Hmmm, I thought to myself. Why can't we play whiffle ball? I went down to the front desk and saw a sign there that said they have whiffle ball equipment we can use in the courtyard. And so, that is what we did. Friday after our sound check at the arena, we played. And played. And played some more. And we laughed. A lot. And then after the event on Friday night, we came back and played again, under the courtyard lamp light (in a game where the praise team BEAT the socks off the crew, by the way. Imagine their humiliation to be beaten by a bunch of musicians...).

We had a great time. It was a top ten day for sure. This old man was a little sore the next day. But not too bad. And of course, our friend Rich, photographer extraordinaire, was there to capture some moments.

Yessss. We are NUMBER ONE. Except for one of us thought we were number two.

  8. Travis - I love me some Whiffle Ball. We use to have Whiffle Ball Tournaments in our youth group - so much fun...

I think Bethie was just showing her sweet heart of ministry and giving her "peace" to everyone.

Either that or not paying attention because she is going to have FUN wherever she may be!

    Love y'all,

  10. That looks like so much fun! You know, maybe Bethie thinks that being number 1 is only reserved for Him. That sounds so spiritual doesn't it? (Smile) It was probably just a case of Miss-Blonder-Than-She-Pays-To-Be! Gotta love her, only she would play with a skirt on! You all look like you had a great time- You guys all need to relax like that!

The praise team had practiced all that afternoon...while the crew was working!!! Once the crew got past the first inning and had our game together, it was a very close game, afterall, we only lost by one.
